Art exhibition in the lobby for the skate art.

The event will be put on by Eastern Boarder, Granite Skate, The Steez Gallery, and World Crush Media. There will be limited edition tees and stickers for give aways. This should be a really huge and positive event especially since Eastern Boarder will be involved. This means we will have radio coverage and such. We will be able to get some awesome video coverage and make an interesting compilation video for the event. With this new information, a couple of the dates will change. The date for the actual event is a little sooner than expected. Here are the new dates:

I will need high resolution images if you are interested in having your deck design featured on the promotional flier. This means that I will need a head on photo, at least 300 dpi OR at least 2000 pixels wide or 2000 pixels tall. If you send me a low resolution image, I will not be able to use it. I would like to make sure we have the maximum time to promote for this event, so please send them to me as soon as possible.

The due date for images is: AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! JULY 30TH, 2011.

The due date for label information (name of piece, price of piece, name of artist) is: AUGUST 15TH, 2011.

The drop off dates will be sooner than the exhibition, due to the fact that I want to make sure anyone who can't make it to the dropoff, will make it. The drop off dates will be: AUGUST 22ND, 23RD and 24TH, 2011 AT THE STEEZ GALLERY, 85 W PEARL ST, NASHUA, NH.

I have also enclosed as attachments the label request form and exhibition contract. Please read both of these over. It will be expected that you bring and sign an exhibition contract when you drop your items off.

Please also keep in mind that all artwork must be presented on a deck of some sort. This part is important and I cannot stress it enough. This will make the art event different from most; I find that artwork physically on a skateboard or longboard deck shows a lot of "pop" and is tangible very interesting and feasible.

Please keep in mind that The Steez Gallery, while it is partially an art gallery, is also a high-end smoke shop. If you do not want to be exhibiting next to artistic sculptural glass pipes, please do not show interest in this call to artists notation. While the artwork will not begin by hanging next to sculptural glass pieces, some select decks will end up hanging in the actual Steez Gallery. The Steez Gallery takes 40% commission, so it is a 40/60 split with the artist (The artists gets 60%), so please price your work accordingly. There is currently NO entry fee to show at this venue!

When it comes to getting your artwork on the decks: there are a couple of options for getting your design physically on a skateboard deck. You can physically paint the design on a deck (which is great, as it constitutes an original and can be sold for much more)... Typical blank wooden decks range from $10 to $40, depending on where you get it and the quality of the board (the best place to shop now is online), and the complexity of the design determines its price.

However, the easiest and most cost effective route is going through a printing service such as zazzle.com or boardpusher.com. Boardpusher`s decks are $49.99 printed in full color plus shipping, which leaves you room to sell a deck at $80 with commission included and still turn a little profit. It works by scanning or digitally designing to their specifications, then just uploading it and ordering it.

We do not print any of the designs for you and expect works to already be fully printed or painted/whatnot on the decks by the time of dropoff. The dropoff date will be expected at the end of August/beginning of September. I will, however, need images of the decks with the design on them sometime at the beginning of August for promotional fliers and other promotional needs.

You can submit as many decks as you want... Ranging from 1 to 20. It is up to you what you can afford to show. Please! This venue is going to be HUGE! Granite Skate is the New England's ONLY 25,000 square foot inside skatepark. So we have a huge amount of space to fill!

If you would like to participate, please email art@thesteezgallery.com ASAP.
